Marjorie Sparks and Brahm Goldhamer in Recital
The June recital will be postponed until the fall.

  Recital

Marjorie and Brahm presented a program of German, French and English 19th and 20th century songs composed by Franz Schubert, Richard Strauss, Gustav Mahler,Claude Debussy, Henri Duparc, Roger Quilter, and Benjamin Britten.

A message loosely intertwined throughout the program and created a November theme of Longing or Sehnsucht as it translates in German. This sentiment is a familiar one, especially to artists, as well as to all who experience life's more haunting moments.

Songs such as Schubert's lied entitled 'Sehnsucht', Debussy's famous song 'Beau Soir' and the 'Vocalise' by Rachmanioff were heard. The concert finished with a group of English songs including Quilter's 'Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal'.

An appreciative audience enjoyed these two seasoned performers as they took them on a musical voyage to their heartfelt yearnings.
